Nautilus Estate Wines - Crafted from cool Marlborough valleys

Our philosophy is to craft wines that are textural, complex and food friendly, respecting and showcasing the unique Marlborough terroir.
To do this, we take grapes from a handful of specially selected vineyard sites around Marlborough, each of which contribute different flavours and aromas to the wine. The resulting blend gives complexity and depth to the Nautilus wines.

  • This is a dry, medium-weight style of Sauvignon Blanc. Less assertive on the nose than some, this wine builds through the palate with great fruit complexity and concentration, culminating in a delicious, lingering finish. Designed to compliment food rather than overpower it and to develop in bottle.

  • A dry, lightly spiced style of Pinot Gris. Up to 15% of this wine is fermented in old oak barrels to give it extra weight and fullness, and lees stirring adds to the naturally creamy texture. It displays aromas of pear, ginger and nutmeg.

  • Chardonnay has been a real focus for us at Nautilus for some years now. Low yielding fruit is fermented in oak barrels, with indigenous yeasts and minimal malolactic fermentation. The wine has a pure mineral character with crisp apple and grapefruit notes and a beautiful long finish.

  • Perhaps Nautilus’ speciality? A complex, textural style of pinot noir is achieved from a combination of outstanding sites, great clones, detailed vineyard management and specialised facilities. A regular award winner, it is fermented using only natural yeasts, and matured in a selection of French barrels for 10 months.

  • A dry, traditional-method sparkling wine made from pinot noir (70%) and chardonnay (30%) grapes. The wine has a distinctive nutty bouquet, which shows the richness of a Pinot Noir dominant blend and the benefits of extended maturation. An elegant finely structured wine with crisp acidity and a lingering dry finish.

  • Occasionally, a particular vintage or particular site produces something exceptional. In this case Winemaker Clive Jones may choose to bottle a limited release wine. These wines are typically made in such small quantities that they are generally only available in one or two markets.
